Command I.

by Richard Fish

Before there was you there was me.
For quite a few years, I would be
walking and talking and living
first. But you would beat me on giving
long before I realised I had to
do the same. It is true,
I am afraid. But now I will try
to catch you up. Why?

I have realised that it is right.
I have realised that it might
be the only place my heart
can truly find satisfaction. I'll start
with those right next to me,
and eventually I will get to every
person in the world. They all
deserve love. All.

Reminds me of Jesus' words, "Love your neighbor as yourself." And when asked to define neighbor he told the story of the Good Samaritan. You've expressed cogently a godly command.

wonderful. this is how love catches us, shakes us up and spills us out. and we are overcome with it. that passionate overspilling the essence of deeply satsifying creative existence.

This is a love story. Really wonderfully given.

Brilliantly written, a core of beauty and love in it.
