redefine: memorial

by Aaron Michael

i will my eyes to focus
on the dirt
so i will not forget
how much blood lies
just under topsoil.

i will pen your name in red
and carve deep
so when it rains
the water washes you clean
because

it's all i can do, now.
now, it's all i can do.

Author's Note: for all who came with that colored iraq red. you are not forgotten.

Within this I weep.

Aaron, this is a perfect poem to send to the newspapers editors (make sure you receive the credits.)
In our city, we have a page dedicated to local poets.
"redefine: memorial" would be embraced by so many people, especially vets.

Love this...
