alone by Gira BryantI miss you
so much it
seems unreal
as though you
were only ever
fragmentary figment
of my imagination
to begin with
as if I dreamt you
this ache is
not the good ache
no
it doesn't tingle
and please, contract
and release
no, it's a hollow
lodged in the deep
pit of my being
(hold me so tight
and don't let me
go
please)
it seems so
transitory as though
any moment could
be the last and
I take and give
despite that feeling
but it leaves me
cold and hungry
when you're not
here to fill
the ache
the longing too vast
to be contained
I want to writhe
again within your
skin while the dance
