"A Liquored Coffee Romance"

by Max Phineas

I can't decide
Whether these jitters are you
Or the caffeine

Or if this headache
is a suffering heart
or a hangover...

If the smile playing at your lips
Is sweet and gentle
Or mischief in the making

I still don't know
if this is affection
Or just a fiction
distorted to suit my fancy.

After all
Perfume still stains like blood

Even if invisible to the eye...

Author's Note: This makes sense, I swear...

I love this line - "Perfume still stains like blood"... particularly because I think the stain is invisible, but tangible.

The title drew me in and what followed was more than satisfactory. Great read. Most enjoyable.

Yes, it does make sense. Sounds like you're entering a new phase of your life and the environment is not as familiar as the old one.

Haha, jsut a bit sinister at the end! I love this one and yes it makes perfect sense. I just wrote a poem and was not sure if it made sense, but upon the reread it was fine. I think the subconscious takes care of one,k if one is already an established poet...
