Icarus Speaks by S. ChenThrough tears Icarus speaks:
of missing wings and dying dreams,
of the sea and of the sun,
of the flight and of the fall.
Silent fears sleep behind his eyes.
In his wake
trail dormant hopes, folded
and set aside like winter clothes
in the benevolence of summer.
A broken boy, once golden,
Sleeping beneath the sea.
Daedalus weeps:
for drowned wings and departed dreams,
for the sun and for the sea,
for the flight and for the fall.
Sorrow bleeds behind his eyes.

Posted by Coleman Demiurge on 10/21/07 at 05:00 AM This poem is very good. I've seen Icarus used as a catharsis or an example before, but never quite so depressingly as done here - which I adore of course. You don't think this will ever be done? Works for me; I would not object to reading more. |
