terminal by S. Cheni remember
long blue summers
between the dry earth
and the sky
dusty lemondrop
flavor resting against
my tongue like an
old well known friend.
i remember
warm sand shifting
beneath my bare
feet, calloused with
the memory of long
walks and gravel beaches,
the tang of sunlight hot
in my mouth.
i remember
the way the shadows leaned
against you at twilight,
weightless and heavy
your form indistinct,
a constellation of distance.
close enough to taste
and too far to reach.
