Whispers

by Steven Craig

Whispers

For you it is emotional
Most do not even play at it
Yes
I write
I write about all your thoughts
Your feelings are emotions
All of them

I will leave you to read
Tell me in an hour
What you think
Is written for you
Or about you

I am an online shadow
A screen and a keyboard
Far across the land on the opposite shore
I am a wraith that steels your sanctuary.

To hear my words,
You kneel on a pillow next to me
Naked in the street light flowing in the window
You rub my words into your wounds and feel the salt heal you

It would be not pain that you would feel
My words lash the mind and the heart without mercy
The body knows not I was even there

The time is one that is short
A mood that reigns in space
Between the heartbeats

The sensation that is yours
To feel
And for me to taste

It is always that way
That there is more for you that I do not know
And more for me that you will never understand

It is life that makes it so
It is not a choice
There is no other path

You can cry
But there is only the step to sit on and weep
And hold your dreams in your hands
Yielding them one at a time
With age
Until there are no more

Then
You are grow a woman
Live in a real place
Give in a real time
And have for others your real self

It is different there
Than any mood
No joy in the passing of that youth
But it has happened
When here you sit
With me
Understanding it perhaps for the first time

Eager to learn
And not trusting the knowledge
That flows from me to you
And in return
Gives your attention to a stranger
That commands your eyes
To read this as he writes

One motion
And never ending
Until you tire and move to sleep
Not the same person you were
Just a moment ago
That is where you sit

Though I think I dig the last one is a little sharper, a little stronger, this one still kicks ass all the way through.
