Hibernation

by Steven Craig

Hibernation

That is such a good word to express the moment.

I have found myself in hibernation for some time now.

It comes to that point from time to time

That all the energy and teaching and guidance takes away from the tomorrow

Makes you 'thinner'
Less to give,
Even less capacity to absorb.

Emotions are a re-newable energy source.

It is the constant draw without refreshing that makes the poles melt.

Given a choice
I would always have the energy
always have the right answer,

always have the others issues taken in hand

and solved in that twinkle of an eye that everyone expects.

Expectations.

Mine are that my energy will be needed
everywhere.

No matter the desire
no matter the reward
the temptation to spread my one pad of butter
over so many loaves is at times
insane.

Hibernation.

That is the time to withdrawal,
and not make the earth shake.

It is a time where the mind enfolds the winged Pegasus of my life
and stands still
listening
breathing
making self-awareness become in focus again.

It is not rest,
nor relaxation.
It is acclimatizing
to the yet to come new day.

Still, like Sherlock Holmes
and the violin,
I will always contend
but never indeed learn to spell.

That is a good word. There's a lot of potential in it, writing-wise. I'd say you turned out a good thought on it.
