Summer

by Joe Cramer

Summer lingers on, thoughts forever forlorn.

Waiting on the day, cool winds blow my way.

The circumference of the day, quietly

For me, forever asleep at the wheel.

Such a decadent decay overwhelms,

Mechanical, droning on.

There is no way to find this end.

The sky closed in all around me,

As the universe slides backwards.

Summer lingers into the day.
