Falling Down

by Jersey D Gibson

Dim nights lit by blurred skies,
stars but a roadmap of the past.
Remember nothing, past is a wound,
candles crying upwards towards heaven.

Simple means are but simple things,
follies left best forgotten.
Scar tissue fades oh so slowly,
just a reminder that we are now stronger.

Will you catch me if I fall?
I'm sinking forever downward.
Destiny like a shooting star,
burning across the heavens.

Songs made into tragedies,
lines skiped to save time.
Pickled by the shape of things,
fooled twice; all my fault.

Sacraments fouled by dust,
swept away for the next offering.
Table set by my choosing,
eat the seeds that I've planted.

Will you catch me if I fall?
I'm flying, just not forward.
Shrinking like a shooting star,
rocketing forever downards.

The brightest flames burn quickest,
snuffed out before their time.
The stars can't glow forever,
but in the distance, we still shine.

(will you catch me if i fall
i'm going, but not leaving
will you wish on this star?
i'll do everything to make it granted)
