sunshine through the damp

by Charlie Morgan

the wind was sullen this morning;
it blew its anger at all of dallas.

as though not enough, she brought rain;
it was a heavy rain, made pants baggy,

drenching downtown workers and bums;
soon, you could tell no difference.

broken umbrellas and dashed dreams
made the caravan slow to a halt;

'til each was cleansed of yesterday,
and suited in unison for tomorrow.

smiles and grimaces appear the same
in a hazy, wet, blameless rain storm.
