what it isnt?

by Matthew Sharp

i dont know how to put it
im not intimidated anymore
by anyone anything a universe a microbe
ill fight anything and lose
if i cant win ill try again
fuck zen and religion
poisoning instinctual obviousness
that had us clearly going all the way to one
i love everyone i see
but my enemy has a strong headlock agenda
i dont mean to offend
any self replicating mutating trend
i just cant let my have-to's dictate my want-to's
it creates a perfect candidate
for the breeding ground
of the open-dimensional
self perpetuated for survival
uncategorized in between the lines
of physics
its not what it is
its what it isnt
then put the two together
see who wins

Love the hesitant yet sure beginning..."i dont know how to put it" working right into a lack of intimidation. Love the focus against "instinctual obviousness" and the mock humor of "don't want to offend any self replicating mutating trend" --wondrous. How perfectly put: "i just cant let my have-to's dictate my want-to's" Great--"open-dimensional its what it isnt". Intellect shining in this emotional tour de force.

You take the reader for a wild philosophical spin! A little dizzing. While I don't agree with some of the concepts you surely challenge the mind! I regret your use of the "f" word. It is superfluous and so overused. The only antiintellectual statement in the poem.

OMGosh, I had no idea you'd written this...I hadn't seen it before I wrote "Spectrum" this morning. It must be something floating in the air. I especially love, "had us clearly going all the way to one". These days, I don't know if we're all each part of the ONE or what, and frankly (I know you hate it when I call you frank) I just can't imagine it matters. What seems to matter now to me is the doing, the action, the next step and the next, and whether I can live in my own skin or not. That's all. And this says it in so many ways.
