less than productive

by Vere Mantratriad

I wanted more
but could not stop myself from
being less than even I could
ever have crafted
And I capsulate
one moment inside this fright
that took me so long just to
want to be
So I take one breath
knowing I'll never give it back
nor find an answer to formulate
some great response with
So I move along
scraping your eyes to be kind
ripping my own out to stop
from seeing you leave

Lost love really hurts! Been there done that. But reflect on it very well.

That last line was really exquisite. Such a great way to convey the pain of saying goodbye to one you love. And I completely agree - ripping your eyes out would be a lot less painful than watching them walk away. Then again, respectively, you wouldn't have eyes to see them again should they return. Great piece.
