This RearViewMirror

by Jersey D Gibson

In this rear view mirror
I see your reflection fleeting
yet I'm not sleeping at all,
no not anymore.

In this piece of glass
I see my image melting
but I'm betting that even you
wouldn't recognize me anymore.

In this empty bed
I feel my skin grow colder
yet I'm not bolder,
not stronger by chance.

In this lonely house
I hold up my heavy head
for your not dead yet,
you're still gone.

In this rear view mirror
I see what once was
because all that is precious,
is now all that I have.
