It's not enough to simply be

by David Bauman

Again I find myself,
So empty and alone.
The pain doth endure,
My heart's heavy as stone.

No matter my course,
Or how often I try,
To change life for the better,
I still want to die.

Let me fade into blah,
Can't I cease to exist?
Or will Hades claim me,
Despite what I've wished.

I'm nearing the end,
Of my limited sanity.
Despite all the people,
Who clearly love me.

I exist only to work,
I seem only to give.
End this shadow of a life,
Or let me truly live.

Author's Note: "It's not enough to simply be" is a little something reflecting the inner thoughts of a person who feels they have nothing to live for, and no reason to keep going. Is it simply enough to exist with out purpose?

Very poignant, pessimistic, depressive, articulate.
