life is centering a lop-sided egg;
the youth think it's pink flamingos.

with soft, pink flaps they rise and settle,
the underside of white wings, lifting.

head down, wriggler gone to belly;
long legs careful to break water's top.

a raised head allows for underwater movement,
eat, die, eat, die; lillies strum life's tune.
