Fight by Jeffrey Parrenmaybe it was the constant fighting
that kept me speechless
when you said it was over.
that didn't allow me to fight back
for you or for me,
that held my throat in silence.
i guess it may be better for you now
since your resignation to life
prior to my presence was fine for you
so you can go back to it sadly,
but you will get better,
while i wrote poetry for you for years
even before we met,
so you wonder why i didnt fight...
i guess because my heart
cannot believe you are giving up,
where all i want to do is be with you
and start a big family,
but work and life is getting in the way,
so for now i will let you go,
knowing you'll be back to fight again, with me. 09/27/2007 Posted on 09/27/2007 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren

Posted by Tony Whitaker on 09/27/07 at 07:07 AM Man, this was down in the Delta blues sad! Poetry can sometimes help the healing, but it's the time that slows so that makes the hurting feel like it will last a lifetime, but it won't. Nice Jeffrey. |
