Singing Class by Angela ThomasI'm taking this singing class with a very famous
composer, and he keeps telling us, Pick a circumstance,
but pick big. Dream big. Look at your person,
and just speak to them. Speak in that circumstance.
I stood in my living room, pulled out that one last
picture of you that I have left, the one where we're both
looking at the camera, but our hearts are looking firmly
each other in the eye. And I sang. I sang and I sang
and I sang. Love is not a victory march, it's a cold
and it's a broken hallelujah. And then I stood in my
living room, in only my underwear, staring at this picture
of you and I. And I suddenly, my voice was different -
a soft trembly kind of different. A voice fighting through
tears. Tears that haven't come in so long. I was thinking
about being in your bedroom, about singing this song
to you and what would you say? What would you do if I
just walked in and started to sing? You were the only one.
I wish I had the stength to tell you that. I wish there was
time enough for you to hear me. Pick a cirumstance.
But pick big. Only you know what you're thinking. 09/25/2007 Posted on 09/26/2007 Copyright © 2024 Angela Thomas
