"Temporary" by Max PhineasThe concept of forever
Is something we contrived
When we were too afraid to face an end.
Hidden behind a happy hollow
Where smiles pervade and love prevails
Ends lie far off...
Then
Like a plate-glass door
You don't see coming
you're thrust back on the floor
Staring at the ceiling.
You don't know the feeling
Until you see Forever
Charge past
And all you can do is look back...

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 09/27/07 at 05:22 AM I don't see this as sad or depressing. I see it as insightful, an enlightenment moment, sudden, bright, real. Beautifully spoken, intense. And so this is what makes a fine poem, and all we can do...in the face of all this. |
