Baby's Breath by Elizabeth Hoadleysoft, warm
the calm
before
and after
the storm
tousled entry,
now sleeping
happily
gently rapid
short and pleasant
binds the mind
in the present
watching anew sing
patience is waiting
echoes when fighting
all to stay
between
the growing pains
older in
every first
word
step
and conflict heard
stale labors
elder breaths
leaving heavy
worn memoirs
unsteady
in life's depth
retiree
returns
simplicity
to memory
and
the mockingbird
shall sing
every night
that time
should bring
the world turns
slower with
baby's breath
endowing
a tranquil
and pleasant
death
