Brothers of the String by Tony WhitakerTwo strangers meet
Guitars in hand
They dance a tonal tale
caressing sound for,
and knowing smiles tell,
the summit reached...
Cloned harmonic tone
Honed
A bond now formed:
Brothers of the String
Forever
09/22/2007 Author's Note: This is a tribute to Tim Vincent. I truly enjoyed it.
Got to play with Tim for a United Way event. Although not my style of music, we did "Seeds" by Kathy Mattea. Tim Vincent and I played the guitar piece while three sang in harmony. Tim and I achieved what all guitar players enjoy, and now captured in this poem... To my other Brothers of the String out there, enjoy and share with us your own inspirational insights and experiences.

Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 09/22/07 at 03:02 PM Yes, you captured it surpassingly well. My experience playing strings and flute and keys and drums (oh let's toss in the whole symphony of music artists!) with musicians parallels yours. Difficult to describe the kithes, and yet, here you've done it. And done it shiningly! |

Posted by Alisa Js on 09/22/07 at 09:58 PM Musicians do speak and relate in a language all their own... like minds and all that. Well done, aloha ;-) |
Posted by Christopher J Davidson on 09/25/07 at 07:47 AM This certainly tells the tale of a musician. I really liked "They dance a tonal tale". Nice imagery, fantastically put.
Great stuff, man. And you're a Carolinian to boot (I'm originally from SC). |
