And I'm Guilty Too

by Olivia Weinkein

what a lonely face is the
noise that you make
written on your palm
before you began

i see them too.

burning burning burning
dancing like they've never
known life
the pain that comes with rain
a child with a rainbow of hope

and i'm guilty too.

i spoke before i felt and
cried just the same watching
their broken hearts reach out
again and again

and we never learn.

tippytoes egg shell fragile
is all it would have taken
humming along with the radio
as though this day will never
end i'm just another soul you
know

and i'm guilty too.

A lot of people are guilty, I'd suspect. The trick is to work on your poker face. Nice work.
