Never Wish On What You Can't touch by Olivia Weinkeini shouldn't be feeling like this.
i shouldn't be wishing like this
because shooting stars
never get you that far
contagious as warm skin
a mosquito
somewhere in the dark
and so and so wants to meet you
wants to
get to know you
shooting stars
never get us that far
and don't be ridiculous
don't be weird how
can you be
so strange like that
so
e
a
s
y
easy now it makes no difference to me
and i'm lying and a cat has your tongue
you don't belong you just
don't belong
and i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm sorry
for all of the things right now it seems
i can't put a finger on
get a handle on this take hold we're all f a d i n g
we're all fading
somewhere between the night meets the day
is where i left you is
where you are
because shooting stars
never get me that far 09/21/2007 Posted on 09/21/2007 Copyright © 2024 Olivia Weinkein

Posted by Tony Whitaker on 09/21/07 at 07:49 AM There are many styles of poetry on this site, some I enjoy, some are just too esoteric for my taste, although some have a rhythm and melody that overcomes the nonsensical nickel words strung together to impress(?). Then I come across this style and it is so refreshing. Do you read Bukowski, since this is what I felt when I read it? Pardon my language but damn good poem and into my favorites. |
