The Trophy Wife

by Joe Cramer

The most beautiful of women

Was right there, sat before

Me, All that I could adore.

Someone's trophy wife

Waiting on the stage

Her moment in the sun.

I waited quietly

For the soft, sultry tone

Of her voice.

I was left alone

All my mind could reach

Was the sound of her screech.
