On Writing (To You)

by Joe Cramer

I don't know how

To write to you.

I know you read

These machinations

That I offer almost

Daily.

I don't know what

To say, or how to say it.

My guess is

That I miss our conversations

The way that you would speak

My name,

Speak the terms

Of endearment.

My intentions were never true

You never knew what to do

Except profess your love

As well as your friendship.

I blew it, I know

When all I ever wanted

Was you.

This much I know

Is true.

Author's Note: I was definitely going somewhere else with this when I originally penned the words.... something else happened instead... a metaphor for my life.....

Whew love the switch to the right margin--certainly draws attention to the fact that "something else happened"! Good forthrightness,
