Tears and Such

by Tota Longmire

Loud music and games distract me
But just for a moment and if I stop
And try to think of anything, it all
Rises from the banked ashes of my
Conflicted feelings and burns again.
The smoke making my eyes water,
From the inside out and tears fall.

They tickle, these tears, if I close
My eyes and concentrate on the feeling
Of them running down my skin, then
I can imagine them watering the fire
Of my anger and frustration and see
In my mind's eye the flames die down.
They're banked by the tears of their creating.

Yet, no sooner has the salt dried on
My cheeks and the skin is still tight
Then I get distracted again and let
The emotions flair up, flaming bright.
My headaches from the loud music and
Tear concentrating, I wish I could just
Find it in me not to care at all about it.

I especially like the formal arrangement of this--in the face of being overcome with emotion., It demonstrates a way of dealing with it all. Very strong evocation of feeling here.

Hi Tota, Great write. Yes, it is very emotional.
