He Cried

by J. P. Davies

tonight just lie awake chase your thoughts around
weave patterns and conclusions into waves of sound
in this world of constant madness, how can sanity abound?
this is not your way, how can you live today
if no solution can be found?

And he cried you don't know what it's like to fall down
to spend your whole life staring at the ground
but I know what it's like
and if it takes my whole damn life
I'll make sure you never wind up on the ground

tomorrow shakes this evening like the ending of a storm
taking all conscience with it, memories are torn
brother against brother, a family tree is shorn
you try to fight, but not tonight
you just can't take it anymore

just a simple man, with simple plans, but you'd think he'd gone insane
grandiose ideas keep tearing at his brain
panic rips a hole in him, like thunder in the rain
it's not alright, he's too afraid to fight
he simply can't contain

JP, this is so loving. I don't know what the situation is with your father, but it's quite clear you love him and he loves you back. Have you read this to him?
