You Seekers of Truth Be Stilled!

by Tracy Ellen

With who lies the task
Of telling the truth?
Business men and holy men
And sayers of sooth.
Not philosophers and artists,
Brush dipped in reams.
The medium: math and
Science and dreams.

Abstract thought, a curse
And thrilling skill.
Worship of beauty can
Render the mind still.
Seeking nobility of pleasure
Gives truth without need
Of alignment with reality
Or facts that bleed.

This just sounds good, you know? I mean, it's got substance for miles and a very strong spirit, but the thing I like the most about it is just how good it sounds when you read it out loud.
