Ridgeline

by J. P. Davies

fingertips screaming

to slide down her spine

trace her tattoo

redraw it

distance is dreaming me

in the crook of her neck

cigarettes and shampoo

eau de toilette

undeniable essence

a cardboard silhouette

imaginary fleetings of concern

inconsequential

she has another man

the fantasy doesn't mind

slide into her skin, once

sad smile soul that I am
