Alcoholism 101

by Olivia Weinkein

they tell me i don't act right when i'm drinking
i drink too much too often too soon
(tonight..)
they say you will become just like Him (my father,
my dad, my friend, my alcoholic) but i say

I have kind eyes
i have strong hands

i am friendly and honest and i love to laugh
(can they laugh, can they find something worth laughing about)
because i can
and
it all amounts to much more than a drink in my strong hand
a kind smile
a friendly gesture

but i am an alcoholic

i am just
an alcoholic.

I happen to be a friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob, myself. Tell you this much, it's very interesting company to keep! AA's are a LOT of fun! Welcome to the family.

I'm still in denial. I liked this a lot though.
