Common Denominator by Maria KintnerWe have roots.
Remember those?
Those days when you
wrote my favorite words to read,
and I loved them secretly.
We have shifted.
The alchemy of our souls has
become opaque from their hopeful
transparancy.
Your skin is not just a mist in my dreams
but the smooth reality of heat and matter;
it's similarities with the child between us,
a stark reminder.
I cannot hold you in my hands, for fear you
would still drip through my fingers. You would
still fall between them, tumbling to the
earth below.
We have more than the fantasies of the past,
and our seeds were planted close together
to bloom into our future.
Despite my wishes granted, we are still in hopeful
vapor. I will always want you more than I have
you, already. 09/05/2007 Author's Note: Happy Birthday, Jonathan
