Why I Should Cease Mourning by Elizabeth SeagoBecause he was animalistic
When he was stoned.
And he would only tell me that I was beautiful
When I was fully clothed.
Because sex was everything
And after awhile it was just sex.
Because he had an insatiable hunger
I couldn't fufill,
And he never understood the concept of lingerie.
Because I feared his temper and
Hid his drugs in my breasts at the bar.
Because he didn't believe in himself
Or me.
...Only "us".
But "us" can't double as a happy pill.
And "us" MUST MUST MUST STAY "us"
...Until he finds another "us" wherein the
"s" is 60 pounds lighter, and "u"
can treat "s" as though she belongs a leash. 09/01/2007 Posted on 09/02/2007 Copyright © 2025 Elizabeth Seago
