Why I Should Cease Mourning

by Elizabeth Seago

Because he was animalistic
When he was stoned.
And he would only tell me that I was beautiful
When I was fully clothed.

Because sex was everything
And after awhile it was just sex.

Because he had an insatiable hunger
I couldn't fufill,
And he never understood the concept of lingerie.

Because I feared his temper and
Hid his drugs in my breasts at the bar.

Because he didn't believe in himself
Or me.

...Only "us".

But "us" can't double as a happy pill.
And "us" MUST MUST MUST STAY "us"

...Until he finds another "us" wherein the
"s" is 60 pounds lighter, and "u"
can treat "s" as though she belongs a leash.

hahaha...classic e.s. boy-anger, only smarter and better written in my opinion! like a 2.0 version. i'm very impressed here young lady. the last couple of stanzas are quite witty and very sharp-edged. even though it hurts to endure breakup, it has fuelled a great fire here. as always, wonderful stuff.
