I'm beautiful

by Sigurdur Haraldsson

After a long dark soul-searching night
I drive back to where I belong
'cause
you keep telling me I'm beautiful

Author's Note: Prompted by

"you keep telling me i'm beautiful
but i feel a little less so each time.
your love is so colorful
it flashes like a neon sign,
but i finally drove out where
the sky is dark enough to see stars
and i found i missed no one
just listening to the swishing of distant cars."

from "swim," a song by ani difranco from her "educated guess" album.

Sounds like it brought out some good work in you.

Great lyrics of your own. Poetic and true.

I get the feeling that there is something fake when the person tells you you're beautiful, and so it requires a long, hard, all-night look at things before we end up back where we belong, alone in truth.
