It was a joke. We would be much older
for such young thoughts.

This is no end, and we are newer.
It will be different now.

There are boundries
that we straddle,
pressing hips on thin lines,
but we know better
that slopes can slip too.
We never needed to.

We are standing on each other,
one daring the other
to see what's below us.

Years between us, more beneath us.
Neither dares to look forward,
but both agree what we would see.
