I drank it up tonight
to dull the pain of absence
instead of drinking you in
making me drunk with passion
so in place of romance
and buying you thoughtful things
I gulp down sorrows with Peach Shnapps
and watery beer named Corona,
playing cards while wishing
I could just hold you and hear
your voice calm and happy
just to be near me, but I couldn't.

So, I drank it up tonight, lonely,
in a room full of friends.
