tarnished icons

by Matthew Sharp

you tempt me with light in my darkest depths
who can see under your lens?
light bends i destroy myself
to quantum closer to its abyss
to protect me
from destroying the universe
the 'eye' in the 'all' makes it so small
against figures so massive
it collapses space and throws life boats
into the chaos of acclamation
the light beams on an empty ruler
faded from uninterest and misuse
coming out from under the sea of excess
i collapse into infinity
searching for eternal comfort shell
absently tossed around the lost and found
fighting for recognition
to be the first thing that pops up

the strength of love and aiming for that precious all embracing "eternal comfort shell" to me encapsulates the most basic and pure of human wishes... to go beyond the noisy surface of things to the depths... where the precious transforming seed is hidden... it feels as if this would be possible, that in the seeking the light is always on the verge of being turned on, if only... this poetic urge, this passion drives us... it is possible that recognizing this urge is the treasure itself... to turn this into poetry as you do, this is what we can do... in my view... and it is a thrill, as here...
