benders and earthquakes

by Lauren Singer

we may be crazy, baby, but it's alright.

he sinks his teeth into my elbow
and starts strumming chords i'd never heard
singing about benders and earthquakes.

how many times do i sit and think myself lonesome
about what it's like to lay with you
and drown into your coal-streaked skin?

well i think the men will be alright
but why not keep fighting for a something
with no name?

you always loved a cause to cling to,
it's why i think i need you.

the leeches will keep looking for
something to suck onto
but all we need to entertain
is what it's like to live.

we may be crazy baby,
but it's alright.
