Accept What's in the Wind
by Thomas K. HuntA big oak tree and an orange tree were standing next to me
The big old tree said to the orange tree
Don’t you spit your seeds on me
You can stay in the sunshine
You can smile in the rain
Just keep your seeds to yourself
Don’t spit at me again
I looked at that big old tree, and I just shook my head
What the hell are you talking about
Look at all this shit you shed
You just caused me labor
You bear no fruit, my friend
Leave the little guy alone
You’ve got to learn to bend
The orange tree smiled the coolest little grin
He looked up at the big old tree and flipped off a seed at him
I’ll stand my ground
I’ll still spit my seeds
The little guy just laid back and spat one into the breeze
The big tree got furious
But what’s a tree to do
I'm stuck in the ground
And can’t move around like you
He’ll just keep on living until his dying day
With hundreds of little orange trees who spit their seeds his way
The moral of this story
You’ve got to just accept what you've been given
Learn to love and live together
Accept what’s in the wind
