don't let me fall down, underground
succumb to this wave,
you are famously stronger than all I could ever be
I need you now in this darkened hour
hold to this last thread of anything but
defeat,
not an option
smiles around slipping, dipping
chuckles abound and I fashion a raft
checked my backpack
zippers frozen in haphazard format
without you,
your touch of encouragement
I seek
let us remember and focus
we'll take steps, tho measured
we'll make progress
I promise
without you, I perish
with you, I breathe
