Diaphanous

by Britt Zimmerman

I can see

right into,

and through your frame,

and your heart is black

and it casts a shadow

over your eyes.

I dont miss it sometimes

the vulnerability

your need to control

We were

like the veins inside green leaves

or blue like blood before it coagulates

And I can see it all now

It's like walking backwards

while the rest of the world

flies by in fast forward.

Well said. Particularly, with the last two lines.
