The Bubbles of Life by Thomas PowersThe bubbles of this life are all afloat.
They bob and weave amongst our days and years,
Like constant waves do lap against a boat,
Soon burst to cast their hopes, sweet dreams and fears.
First whiff gives hope. As fast does disappear
When fear takes oer whilst deeper breath we take.
Repeats then, hope, next dreams, then hope, then fear.
We soon discover life, a boat on stormy lake.
So bursts persist and yet our boat survives
Midst ebb and flow of waves, some pleasure filled
And others drenched in gloom. We know our lives
Will be as strong and sure as boat we build.
We stand at helm assured we will pull through.
Storm passed, smooth sail now puts our end in view.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 08/09/07 at 05:49 PM Thomas, welcome to pathetic. I enjoyed reading this sonnet. The theme I can sure relate to, since my life - especially S3. You've written what's universal to many lives. Get to know us and please, write more. P.S. - there are many teachers on the site (and for me, teachers are my heroes) ;-)

Posted by Gail Wolper on 01/25/13 at 10:55 AM Excellent form! Also original and inspiring beautiful sonnet. Could be improved a bit by less frequent repetition of words. A bit choppy in parts for this formm. Overall, very well done! |
