and it really doesn't change a thing or two
in the greater scheme of things
I knew this going in, I did
but chose to look the other way
listen to my heart instead
pushed aside those mutterings
from the 'know-it-alls' who told me you were nothing more
than some passing fancy
somewhere in that night and freakish wind ...

I remember now, think somehow, it could still work out
if only,
two words I abhor and run from
one too many times, if the truth be known
I've got some work to do
no matter, how could this concern you
for you're not real
tho' you seem to be,
you're in my head and found a room
in my heart and toil, diligently
for that delightful day,
the one we know we'll never see
but its good to think that way,
at least for me,
it's what I tell myself ...
