I've been looking
by A. Paige White
For my miracle.
I got a short note from Big D. telling me I'd have a miracle today.
(not D.eity, just one of His homies)
A GOOD one
(emphasis his)
I looked on my way home. Saw another wreck that wasn't me. Might have been it.
I looked in my driveway. It wasn't there.
I looked in my mail box. It wasn't there.
I looked at my ever rubbin, ever lovin, Beastley.
He was still hungry as usual. It wasn't there.
I looked on my answering machine. It wasn't there.
I looked in my kitchen sink. The two dirty plates weren't it.
I looked in my email. It wasn't there.
I looked in my bedroom. My bed wasn't made.
I looked in my heart and found laughter, hope, joy and faith.
I looked in the mirror and found a smile.
I think that was it.
When I knelt down, I think I found the patience I'd lost in a daze of days.
I know that was it.
