a little light

by Mary Ellen Smith

it was just a little light

hardly bright enough to notice.

she picked it up and kept it lit.

nurturing it with the kindling of her heart.

that heart that had kept her warm all of those years.

and then

that little light caught a spark and flamed to life.

a flood of luminous sunshine

begging a smile

from everyone that was warmed by it.

Reminds me of "This Little Light of Mine" song we used to sing in Sunday School. Lovely symbolism of one who is outgoing and caring.

Hi Mary Ellen, Yes, you sure are that light. Que's right, it does remind one of that some: This Little Light of Mine. Sure miss ya. Lots of hugs. :)
