Tables Aren't The Only Thing I Wait On These Days

by Megan Guimbellot

I've been waiting all day long, so much now that I'm beginning to believe that I do nothing else::

Waited for the light to change
Waited for the line to move
Waited on customers at the restaurant
Waited for the phone to ring

Wait, scratch that last one, because I can't wait on you any longer.

I love this. Waited for my ship to come in. Waited for a young adult to grow up. Waiting for change. I've lived that last one for a year and a half. I do it again today. I think I've waited so long waiting has become the goal. Your poem has definitely given my introspection a path. Thanks.
