Losing Perspective

Can you sense my lament raining for turning my back on you?
Can a voice travel twenty-five thousand miles and still be heard?
My eyes be damned yet still I see your face through the waterfall
Giving me hope you can hear me behind our imaginary wall

The world spins in twenty-four hours, carrying a new day in tow
Yet eternity stands in the way of reversing half a turn or letting it go
Full circle to meet your eyes lifting from the sorrow of dismay
As the light of morning burns away the mourning of yesterday

I awake to realize twenty-five hundred days have helped the miles fade
But not the memory of the pain freshly exposing the fool that I made
Living in a past moving forward more rapidly than unclean feet can run
Toward a destination as empty as the one I can’t stop running from
