fashist by Jim BenzMinneapolis
Minneapolis
you're a nervous shopper
in a Marshall's pant suit -
(can't eat a peach
without a napkin, can you?)
your highway chews
around my neighborhood
Minneapolis
in its hurry for a sale
down at Macy's via
Field's (known as Dayton's)
where you window shop
with beggars
dressed in lime, adoring
all the pretty outfits
in the window -
gnawing fashion 07/31/2007 Author's Note: throw-away poem. I just thought it was time to post something rather than deleting it altogether. NOTE: the title is not a spelling error.

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 07/31/07 at 06:05 PM Mmmm I could ssee this going on and on-- overtones of Patterson, Chicago, and even TS Eliot ring through-- it really could be long and rambling with different snapshot, shopwindow views! Has a haiku like flavor as well. Keep. Breathe. (Expand). looking around... Exhale...write more... |
Posted by Dan Kasten on 08/03/07 at 01:54 PM I had no idea it was a shopping frenzy there. I like this one, too. A bit tempo-chaotics, which adds to it all. |
