Perfection

by Ann Mills

Striving for perfection is so very hard to do
That you have to lower standards,
Or the strive will get the best of you.

Meeting such demands, as are placed on us today,
Is too hard to do alone -
If we try, we'll have a price to pay.

Perfection isn't evil, but it's of the rotten sort;
So, if you seek to find it,
You'll be an object of Satan's sport.

When you think you near perfection
Then you can bet there's something wrong,
For perfection's road is deadly,
and it's wide, and rough, and long.

So, instead of being perfect, let us be the best we can,
Using God's good-will to help us,
We'll accept that we are man.
