i'll be in paris when it snows again

by Morgan D Hafele

-was what it read, the last letter you sent me. -
it's been eight months, seventeen days, six hours, and some odd fucking minutes since i last saw your smile.
only days away from the home you called prison and only hours after we met. your eyes almost disappeared behind the laughter we shared and the tears we wiped away were like magic, cleansing grief and fear from our inexperienced minds, promising each other, naieve as it might have been that no matter what we would remember the night and bring those memories with us when next we met.
i brought them with me to your apartment after you whispered my name over the phone stessing each sylable, breathing lightly. you didn't smile when i came in. the door was unlocked so i let myself in like you told me to. you were laying on the floor, all ready bloated.
your arms were outstretched. i curled up and nestled my head where your shoulder met your chest crying something about jesus christ and how if he really loved us and how imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then he would bring you back with a heart mended better than new.
when the tears stopped coming and my convulsions ceased i left.
i didn't call the police because i knew some how that you wouldn't want that.
i left the door open the way it was for me.
one kiss. on the forehead. was my final gift.

it's raining today, but the sun's breaking through tired clouds used up and washed out.
it's raining today, but that doesn't matter much because
i'll meet you in paris when it snows again...

You need to warn people not to read these things in a public place; I'm near tears. Absolutely beautiful and morbid and lovely.
