i could have stayed the night by Shonda Chrissonberryit was like slipping
into a pair of jeans
right out of the dryer
warm in all the right spots
with that little touch of red
just below your belly-button
after all of those years
your arms felt good around me
your passenger seat felt like home
your smell sinking into my skin
in all my emotions
i think i forgot to leave a tip
and i lost that package of chocolate-drop cookies
somewhere down yesterday lane
but those cold beds
and those big box stores
and the well-water memories
spinning gravel
out of control
made it all worth while
if only we could play puppets
everyday
flowers as big as our hearts
learning of new birds and wooden bridges
then i would leave my feet alone
just for you
you
i
we
could make it all go away 07/15/2007 Author's Note: for t ~ i love you more than you know

Posted by Mara Meade on 07/15/07 at 11:02 PM Oh Girl. You just said it all. Been here (okay, and maybe just 80 miles north-east of you) and remember what this feels like, even on those roads that promise green in every season.

It's lovely and emotional. Oh yeah, it's love alright. Lots of hugs. :) |
